Now, it looks like Disney has finally decided to sort out how it presents its franchises, as all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films are now logically organized into categories.
First, a little recap for those who aren't in the know:the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a series of superhero movies based on characters like Black Panther, Captain America, and Thor.
Although Marvel produced movies before it, the MCU as it is now known began in 2008 with Iron Man. The company had high hopes for the film's performance, but Iron Man exceeded their expectations.
Over the next several years, Iron Man was joined by The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America, before stacking up in the character-uniting epic with 2012's The Avengers.
The MCU is divided into different “Phases,” each with an overarching storyline. For those who dive in and out of the movies, that's not a big deal, but Marvel fans take the timeline and the canon very seriously.
Until now, all the Marvel movies have been lumped together on Disney+ without much thought about the organization. This is no longer the case, as all MCU movies are now divided into separate categories.
The new categories are:
You can see them everywhere you watch Disney+. Just go to the homepage and navigate to the Marvel section.
It's great that Disney+ is making these changes to the platform. While it's packed with archival and modern Disney content, it's important to make it as easy as possible for people to find what they want to watch. The more users have to tinker with search menus, the more likely they are to give up.
Of course, there's a lot more to Disney+ than Marvel. There's The Simpsons, Pixar and Star Wars to name a few.
