Many national leagues are ongoing from which the best teams will be selected to participate in the PMGC 2021. In a recent development in the world of PUBG Mobile Esports, the North American team PassionFruit Esports has been disqualified from PUBG Mobile Pro League NA Season 2 due to their misconduct.
PUBG Mobile Pro League North America Season 2 is currently underway. The tournament kicked off on October 5, 2021 with a total of 20 teams competing to claim the winner's prize from the total prize pool set at USD 150,000. Professional teams are currently battling at the League Stadium which will end on October 24, 2021. In the midst of this, PassionFruit Esports was disqualified from the tournament.
PassionFruit Esports was directly invited to the tournament as they participated in the first season of PMPL North America. The roster consisted of Fury, Sleepless, Rage, and Juancho. As Rage and Juancho left the team, the team only played with three players in the tournament, thus violating the 4 player rule. In the second week, they did not participate in any of the games, which was clearly a violation of the rules.
The announcement of the team's disqualification came via the PUBG Mobile Esports North America Twitter account. According to the officials, the team was dropped due to unprofessional behavior listed in rule 6.3.14. The rule states that-
"If a Team Member or Team registers for, or agrees to participate in, any Official Competition, he or she may not, without the prior written consent of the Tournament Organizer, drop out or refuse to participate in any Tournament Game or other related event held during the applicable Season. An unexcused absence from a Tournament Game after the registration process is complete may result in sanctions, as provided in Section 6.4 (Disciplinary Action and Sanctions)"
The officials mentioned that no other team will replace PassionFruit Esports and the tournament will continue with 19 teams. The 20 teams were divided into 5 groups, PassionFruit Esports belonged to GROUP D.
