The repercussions of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war have found their way into the eSports storyline as Tencent, the publisher of the popular battle royale title, has decided to postpone the PUBG Mobile Pro League CIS 2022 indefinitely.
PUBG Mobile Esports 2022 had started with the Pro League tournaments in different countries. PMPL 2022 spring season has started with tournaments in Arabia and CIS with an increase in the number of prize pools, as announced by Tencent during the PUBG Mobile Esports roadmap reveal for the current year. The tournament has gone well so far but has unfortunately been postponed due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

PMPL CIS 2022 has started with 20 participating teams from CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries. Following the previous format, PMPL CIS 2022 was to be played in the League and Final phase. The league phase started on February 14 and was due to end on March 5.
However, the recent events in Russia and Ukraine, which fall under the CIS region, have sent shockwaves around the world and the esports industry is also affected. The official Instagram handle of PUBG Mobile Esports Russia has announced that PMPL CIS 2022 is postponed from now on.
"Dear players and audience PUBG Mobile, in connection with today's events, the League administration decided to postpone the matches of the current week of spring split PMPL CIS 2022. We will follow the development of the situation and share more."
Even though the official post did not mention the reason for the postponement. It is quite clear that "today's events" refer to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Authorities said further announcements would be made once the situation is under control.
PMPL IEC 2022 featured a prize pool of $150,000 and currently Virtus.Pro leads the leaderboard with 104 points and 62 eliminations after the end of week 2, day 2. It is not yet known when the tournament will resume, therefore , fans should wait for further announcements.
