Fine art and landscape photographer Sean Schuster is well known for his vibrant panoramic images from around the world. A perfectionist with each shot, Sean will return to a location as many times as it takes to capture the image that matches his vision. As a result, Sean's images have received numerous international awards and are proudly displayed in homes and businesses, attracting the attention of collectors around the world. In addition to international awards, Sean has received the title of Master Photographer in Fine Art from Master Photographers International.
Born in North Vancouver, BC, Sean is a completely self-taught fine art photographer who has made leaps and bounds in today's competitive art market. When first introduced to photography by Sean, one will immediately recognize the striking, brilliant colors that stop people in their tracks. At the age of 36, many wonder that he has no formal training; Sean often references the images around him in his Gallery in Victoria, BC when asked where he learned this complex craft.
Sean has traveled to Southeast Asia, China, USA and Canada. Traveling expands the mind and also allows for more opportunities to expand one's photography portfolio. His goal is to capture the atmosphere of the places he has visited while trying to avoid places that can be “too much” photographed. Growing up in the foothills of southern Alberta, most of her early years were spent exploring nature while learning the basics of photography. It was a move to Vancouver Island in early 2008 that sparked Sean's passion for the beauty that surrounds him. Once on the island, it was clear that the opportunities for landscape photography were limitless! Traveling the world is still a big part of Sean's subject matter, but what a great place to call home! Sean continually reflects on his past and future adventures:“There are still more trips to be made! I have an ever-growing list of places and countries that must be in my portfolio! »
Mastering both film and digital photography, Sean has always had a greater love for the panoramic style of film photography; this is not surprising as Sean grew up with a camera always in hand. After buying his first digital camera, he found himself stitching the images together to create wider-angle photographs. Sean eventually made the decision to shoot primarily on film, which eliminated the need to stitch the footage together. He liked the idea of moving away from the instant gratification that comes with digital cameras to focus more on composition and light. It's apparently an uphill battle of trials and tribulations using the film and honing this skill. “I am rewarded not just by the end results, but by looking back and realizing that every lesson I learned in front of the lens was put into practice even before I fired the shutter. After minutes, hours or whole days of focusing on lighting, contrast and mood, seeing the final impression is just one of the many rewards of this process! »
In early 2019, Sean opened his first gallery located in the heart of downtown Victoria, BC. As one of the fastest growing landscape photographers in Canada, he quickly hit the milestone with nearly half a million dollars in sales while also having the chance to be featured in a handful of local magazines. With tens of thousands watching his work and progress, Sean is always honored to talk to people from all walks of life who appreciate what he has brought to the art scene. Whether they are window shoppers, aspiring photographers or avid art collectors, Sean understands that there is a universal magnetism in the beauty the earth has provided. Stunning landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes surround us throughout our lives, Sean just wants to capture that fleeting moment for others to enjoy for decades to come.
