While Goku and Gohan prepare, Vegeta and Trunks fail to defeat Cell, who absorbs Android 18 and reaches his excellent form. After Goku and Gohan complete their training, Cell declares that he will hold the Cell Games in ten more days, to give an opportunity to anyone who wants to challenge him.
In the battle against Nappa, Krillin tries to get involved in his fight with Tenshinhan after Nappa cuts off the latter's arm, though he is stopped by Nappa. Krillin double Nappa with Piccolo, creating multiple copies of themselves with the Tri-Form and failing thanks to the clones cutting off their power.
Krillin later confronts Nappa alone, throwing a Kienzan at him which Nappa practically catches before Vegeta warns him, and is saved from an attack by Nappa by Piccolo. After Nappa is defeated and Goku arrives, Krillin asks him to fight Vegeta elsewhere to prevent the destruction of their friends' corpses. He and Gohan leave the battlefield but return after Gohan worries about Goku, who is crushed by Vegeta in his Oozaru form.
A year later, Krillin faces the Saiyan invaders Vegeta and Nappa alongside his friends, after months of training in preparation for their arrival. After Yamcha's death, he avenges his friend by killing most of the Saibermen.
Krillin receives an energy boost from Guru, the Great Elder of the Namekians, when he unleashes his hidden potential. After a number of close encounters with Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan are forced to team up with him in order to battle Frieza's strongest warriors, the Ginyu Force. After a long struggle between Goku and Frieza, Goku decides to use the Genki-dama, Krillin giving his energy to Piccolo so he can block Frieza and attack Frieza himself with his last little energy.
Cell later attempts to self-destruct, only to be teleported away by Goku, killing himself in the process. Krillin, along with Piccolo, Tien, and Yamcha are all part of the forces to aid Gohan against the newly empowered cell. Finally, after Vegeta provides the necessary distraction, Cell is finally taken down by Gohan in a Kamehameha wave battle. Gohan can simply surpass Goku's personal powers and that, if he is unable to kill Cell, Gohan will.
After Krillin is revived by Trunks, he warns Trunks of Cell's energy, having been able to sense his true power just before being attacked. He pulls Vegeta away from the upcoming battle between Trunks and Cell, healing Vegeta during the battle between the 2. He later participates in the Cell Games, a martial arts match created by Cell for entertainment, and fights one of Cell Juniors attacking him. and his friends, however, is saved by Gohan.

Krillin unsuccessfully tries to sever Vegeta's tail in a sneaky assault, and later is given the Genki Dama to throw at Vegeta by Goku, who initially misses but is restrained by Gohan again. After Vegeta gives in to further conflict given his severe accidents, Krillin takes Yajirobe's sword and strikes to kill him, but agrees to spare his life at Goku's request. He then travels with Gohan and Bulma to Planet Namek to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to revive their useless friends, since Earth's Dragon Balls went missing following Piccolo's death. Once there, they rescue a young Namekian named Dende from death at the hands of Frieza's henchmen.
Krillin appears in two of the three Dragon Ball films; in the second, Krillin is used as leverage by Lucifer to convince Goku to give him the Sleeping Princess; and in the third, Krillin is training for the World Martial Arts Tournament, held at Mifan. #18 tries to get Krillin a gift with the Dragon Balls until Bulma is satisfied that her mere presence is enough for her, and Krillin later participates in a baseball sport between Universes 6 and 7.
Krillin tries to stop a pair of evildoers when he is knocked unconscious by a Gohan who arrives in his Saiyaman form. Krillin agrees to train with Goku after some reluctance and the two travel to get Paradise Grass from an island, encountering giant physical variations of former enemies that Krillin becomes afraid of. The two are revealed to be in the "Forest of Fear", Krillin saving Goku from a Super Shenron ghost which the two destroy together. Krillin is asked by Goku and Gohan to participate in the Tournament of Power; he accepts.
When the group recovers from the Genki-dama and Frieza emerges unscathed, the latter blasts Krillin from within, killing him immediately, which triggers Goku's first ever Super Saiyan transformation. Goku has shown mercy to all of the major manga villains he's fought starting with Piccolo. As the androids pass over a mountain street, Android 17 decides to land, and Android 18 and Android sixteen follow suit. Android 18 asks why they landed, and Android 17 says there's no rush, they usually might as well enjoy the trip.
Android 18 asks if they are going for a walk, but 17 says that when a car passes by, they will take it. 18 says Android 17 continues to be part human, as he has a masculine love of pointless fun.
For ten days, Goku and Gohan stay on Earth to train and relax while supporting their Super Saiyan species the whole time. Goku also uses this time to travel to New Namek to ask Dende to be Earth's new guardian, as Piccolo had fused with Kami in a trial and arrest cell, and the fusion returned the Dragons.
