Do you know what the word "lego" means? Do you know why it hurts so much to step on a lego? Here are 5 things to know about Lego.
It is a company that comes from Denmark. And its name is the contraction of Leg godt. And that simply means “play well”. Simple as Lego.
Ok great thank you we already knew that. Even those that date from your grandparents. Founded in 1932, Lego is basically a company that makes wooden toys. Then she copies a British concept of building bricks. And in January 1958, she filed a patent, the one we all know and which still works today. Which means that you can take a piece found in an attic and another that you buy in 2022, it works. Magic.
That is about sixty bricks per inhabitant. And with all the Legos that are sold in a year, we could go around the Earth 5 times... Bon voyage!
It's the Lego world map! A magnificently fabulous planisphere (yes, we love it, you'll understand) to compose yourself. Hours of construction and change of scenery guaranteed. Once assembled, it will still take up space with 104 cm long and 65 cm high.
But that's nothing compared to the gigantic Titanic. Less parts ok (9090 parts), but a 135cm brothel to build for this reproduction of the famous liner. Titanic!
For those who can't see, it's worse than hitting your little toe on a coffee table.
And quite simply because a Lego is ultra mega giga resistant. A single brick can withstand 375,000 bricks before breaking.
Watch out, we're going to do some math. Get ready!
Knowing that a brick weighs about 1g (1.152g to be precise), that's... 432 kg before cracking. So I might as well tell you that you as a human, you don't make the weight (do you have it?). It's as if you could support 30,000 tons or 8,500 trucks
I could also have told you Lego is the biggest seller of tires in the world (Source:BusinessWeek), that Lego was voted toy of the 20th century (Source:The British Association of Toy Retailers), or that there is a version in braille since 2020 for people with disabilities....
But I prefer to tell you that in 2030, this major plastic manufacturer (Boohhh that's not good) has promised to be 100% eco-responsible by manufacturing its bricks from vegetable plastic made from sugar cane. It's never too late.
