The Valorant devs recently revealed that they are bringing cascading agent systems to the game to counter the installation issue. However, the community believes the concept would make low elo matchmaking more toxic.
During a live hangout on Twitch for the launch of Episode 4 of Act 1, Jon Walker, designer of Riot's tactical shooter, talked about bringing an Agent Select feature. cascading into the future.
Cascading choices have been implemented in Riot's other IP, League of Legends. The system places players in a random order to choose their agent. Everyone has 20 seconds each to select their agent, which the community says can be a disadvantage for which player to choose in the end, especially for new Valorant players.
Reddit user u/SkyBoiz posted his thoughts on cascading agents in the game. He thinks players will select duelists every 20 seconds rather than locking duelists instantly. Valorant currently has an Agent lineup with six Duelists. Players often tend to play duelist to get more kills and play aggressively, which overlooks the existence of the other agent roles in the game.
If the team has no communication between them, it could lead to everyone picking an agent of their choice at random without discussion.
This would put the last player at a disadvantage, as they have to select an agent they are not comfortable with or dodge the match instead. As u/SkyBoiz pointed out, this would work for players with more experience and good communication between teammates. However, at low elos this could lead to more toxicity due to their inexperience with other agents.
When half of the community criticizes the system, another Reddit user, u/RadioActiV_YT, offers an alternative solution to make the system work. Without good communication, this system can fail. Thus, u/RadioActiV_YT proposed a 15-second standby phase for players to communicate and discuss their agent composition. This will allow players to play with their comfortable choice, rather than putting them in a situation to choose a random agent that they cannot effectively play.
This is just the community's point of view. Now that Riot has confirmed that the feature is in development, the community would like to know how to design the whole system to eliminate installation in Valorant.
