Other people, including writers from The Verge, have successfully hit major retailers like Home Depot and Walmart to purchase the device.
Of course, Google hasn't announced it yet, but that doesn't mean you can't run out and buy one right now.
As for stores that break street dates like this, your mileage may vary as not all stores have them. For example, The Verge said it visited two different Home Depot locations and only found the device for sale at one of them.
Interestingly, since the device was not officially announced, it appeared on a receipt from Home Depot as "SABRINA-ABBEY ROCK CANDY", confirming the Sabrina codename that has been circulating for some time.
As for price, the new Google TV-powered Chromecast sells for $50 at retailers that stock them early. This matches the price advertised on Reddit a few days ago, so we'd expect that to be the final cost when Google announces the Chromecast on September 30.
If you want to try and get a new Chromecast for yourself, check out your local Home Depot and Walmart, because you might get lucky. You'll have to go to the store though, as we haven't seen anyone manage to get one online.
At this point, there's not much left to announce to Google at its big event on September 30 when it comes to the Chromecast. All the details have been leaked, including support for 4K, HDR, a real interface, and just about everything else. All signs point to this being a truly fantastic device for media streaming.
The Chromecast is coming (or already here, if you're lucky), and we can't wait to catch one.
