Now, NBCUniversal has introduced the ability to download shows to watch later on its streaming service.
With the introduction of offline viewing on Peacock, you can now download shows to your iOS or Android device. The feature has been in the works since Peacock launched, but has only just come to fruition.
This means that you do not need an active internet connection to enjoy shows on Peacock.
Of course, you have to remember to download the show in advance, so add it to your checklist before you travel. You'll also need around 500MB of free storage to download an hour-long show.
The news comes from The Streamable, who first spotted the new feature.
According to Peacock's sign-up page, offline viewing is only available for "selected shows," though it doesn't specify the exact catalog.
To download something, just go to its page and press Download below content. The show will then enter the queue and then be downloaded when enough storage space is available. Just go to the dedicated Downloads page to see everything you have stored.
Not all Peacock users can use the new offline viewing feature.
Indeed, it is only available if you have a Premium Plus subscription. The bottom two tiers, both ad-supported, do not support offline viewing.
Premium Plus has no ads and costs $9.99 per month, or $4.99 if you subscribe through Comcast or Cox.
Peacock is still in its infancy, much like Disney+, so it's catching up when it comes to adding features other streaming services have had for a long time.
For example, it is already possible to download Netflix videos, download Hulu shows and watch Amazon Prime offline.
