Poker! Here is also one of my other great passions that I am eager to share with my readers and Internet users. The reason ? I just organized my very first poker tournament at home and it was a real success.
No matter the event, from the moment when more than ten people will be present, preparations are necessary. To help you in this task, I invite you to consult files concerning the organization of events. These tips and guidelines have been really useful to me in the success of my evenings. Otherwise, for my poker tournament, I opted for the far-west theme, a little nod to the clandestine parties once organized in saloons.
I had a lot of fun staging the western vibe with the "wanted" posters to pin on the walls, cacti, sheriff's stars, lassos, not to mention boots and bandanas. Moreover, when distributing the invitations I specified the dress code to be respected. And to my delight, everyone joined in, even the female guests.
Once the decoration was in place, I had to take a serious look at the menu. Indeed, in our circle of friends, poker evenings are also famous for the good dishes that we taste there. I had an interest in ensuring on this side. So, to make my job easier, I called on the services of a caterer. The service provider prepared a delicious Mexican buffet for us.
Do you only have a few poker chips in your possession? These will not be enough, especially if you expect the participation of more than ten people. The ideal would be to have a cellar made up of tokens of four or five different colors. For fifteen players, allow four hundred to four hundred and fifty chips. For my part, I did not hesitate to invest in a professional poker kit found not very expensive on Amazon. Anyway, this accessory will always be very useful to me.
Offered with a sufficient number of chips, the case already includes a full deck of cards, big, small blind and dealer buttons. For the rug, I had one made by a craftsman in my neighborhood. In addition, to create the illusion of a real professional tournament, I even hired the services of a croupier for this evening. The professional took care of everything, namely the distribution of cards and stacks.
Otherwise, for everyone's comfort, seat participants in comfortable chairs. Depending on the number of participants, a game can last four to five hours, so start early – no later than 6:30 or 7:00 p.m., unless you plan to stay up. And then, you also have to take into account catering and breaks. Regarding the game, we opted for cash game. We have thus divided the jackpot in two. 70% for the winner and 30% for the other finalist.
