How to share Kindle notes and highlights with friends

Your notes and highlights are the digital equivalents of scribbled margin notes and underlined passages. The correct citation tells your friends that this book is worth reading. But first, you need to link your Goodreads account to your Amazon account.

  1. Sign in to Goodreads.com and go to the account settings page.
  2. Scroll down to the Amazon section and connect the account.
  3. Place the book in “Currently Reading” or “Read” on a Goodreads.com shelf. You can also add it to a shelf from your Kindle. Open the book> Tap the three vertical dots in the menu>About This Book .
  4. Read the book and add highlights and add notes to interesting passages. The notes and highlights you make will be synced to Goodreads.com, only you can see it.
  5. Sign in to Goodreads.com. Go to My Books> Kindle Notes &Highlights (under Your reading activity ).

  6. Click on the book you want to share. Now, you can share any of your notes and highlights by switching to “Visible “. Add your own note before sharing it.

Keep in mind that highlights and notes that you make visible are available to friends and anyone who has access to your Goodreads profile. Notes and highlights are also limited to books purchased from Amazon and do not extend to personal documents.

You can also share notes and highlights directly from Kindle. Goodreads is a social network built around your reading. When you're on your desktop, you can start a discussion about the highlights and notes you share.
