If he will be forever linked to the Pirates of the Caribbean saga , Orlando Bloom was however not showing the fourth installment of the adventures of the famous pirates. A choice regretted by the principal concerned.
In 2003 comes out Pirates of the Caribbean :Curse of the Black Pearl . Led by an XXL cast, the film met with immediate and unexpected success. Humor, adventure, love... The ingredients are there for Gore Verbinski's work to become a lucrative saga.
Led by its star duo Johnny Depp and Orlando Blum, the universe will decide to do without the second for its 4ᵉ opus. But why this eviction in The Fountain of Youth ?
Orlando Bloom takes on the costume of Will Turner, orphaned son of a former bandit, in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean:The Curse of the Black Pearl . Building on its success inherited from the first part of Lord of the Rings , it is with the status of international star that he will share the bill with Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow) and Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swann).
Divided into three works, the saga is a real worldwide (and economic) success which will lead the Disney studios to push the adventure of the famous pirates for a 4th part:La Fontaine de Jouvence . But given the lackluster success of the last film in the trilogy, changes in the cast were made for this sequel released in 2011. Among the original trio, only Johnny Depp is still among the actors.
Exit Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. The reason given? An attempt at renewal so as not to surf on the success of the first. Visibly missed choice, because fans will shun the film which will be considered the "worst of the five". The sequel to the corsair adventures is already scheduled for the sixth episode.
But what did Orlando Bloom think of his ousting from the saga? He confided his regret to the Daily Star:"I was sad not to be present in the fourth film. I really missed working with the team. If they had asked me to come back , of course I would have said yes. It's good to know that the saga is still going strong ."
Statements that fell into the ears of the producers, because the actor finally returned, just like Keira Knightley, in the fifth installment:La Vengeance de Salazar .
You can find Pirates of the Caribbean:The Curse of the Black Pearl is on view this Monday, October 18 on W9 at 9 p.m.
