While season 4 is currently being broadcast on TF1, another version of the Good Doctor event series is available... on Netflix.
For a little over three years now, millions of viewers have been fascinated by the adventures of Dr. Shaun Murphy, a gifted young doctor with autism from the phenomenon series The Good Doctor broadcast on TF1, played by British comedian Freddie Highmore.
Also available on VOD on Salto, the new fashionable medical series is however absent from all other streaming platforms such as Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV. But if you take a look at Netflix, you will quickly realize that another version of the program exists...
You might not know it, but The Good Doctor is actually not an original ABC Studios creation. The American version is a very faithful adaptation of a Korean series dating from 2013, bearing the same name.
In this original version, Park Shi-on (camped by actor Joo Won) is a doctor also affected by autism sharing the same simplicity and the same candor as Shaun Murphy, as well as his ability to surpass himself in extreme situations.
And the parallel between the two characters does not stop there:like Shaun, Park Shi-on suffered many disappointments during his childhood marked by abuse and the loss of a brother in a terrible accident. And even the doctor's little fetish object, a plastic scalpel kept since his childhood, is a common point between the two characters.
While season 4 of The Good Doctor is currently broadcast on TF1, and season 5 on ABC, the Korean version has not had the same longevity. the series directed by Kim Min-soo and Kim Jin-woo was only entitled to one and only season, despite having collected numerous awards in the months following its broadcast.
