How to download series and films from the Netflix catalog?

Downloading series or movies can be very useful if you have to keep busy for a few hours in a place where you are not sure of getting WiFi or even a simple internet connection. To easily occupy yourself on the plane for hours if you have chosen Netflix (rather than OCS or Disney+), here is the procedure to follow.

On which devices can I download Netflix series and movies?

Being able to download Netflix content to your TV is pretty useless. In fact, Netflix makes it available to download only on a computer, tablet or smartphone to watch videos offline. And be careful, you must have certain versions to access it.

For a smartphone

If you want to download Netflix content on your smartphone, it is quite possible to do so on an iPhone or Android provided you have the right versions of the operating system:

for another smartphone:Android 4.4.2 or later

For a tablet or a computer

Downloading to a computer or tablet is also possible and the possibilities are even a little more numerous. Be careful however, the option is not available for a Mac:

How to download Netflix series and movies?

First of all, check that you have a good connection otherwise you will not be able to download. If you want to avoid consuming too much data, be sure to connect to a good Wifi network.

Download to smartphone

Open the Netflix app and click the download icon (a down-pointing arrow and a horizontal line);
Click on "View titles to download" or "Find videos to download" or "More videos to download";
Choose the movie of your choice and click the download icon.

Download to computer

Open Netflix and press "Menu";
Scroll down and click on "Downloadable Content";
Click the icon when you find the movie you want.

You don't have to go through the downloadable content to find what you're looking for. If you come across the description page of a movie or series and the download icon is available, then you can easily add it to your list. Attention, for the series, this icon is present next to each episode.

How to access downloaded content?

You can access your downloaded content in the "Downloads" tab of your application and can be accessed from any profile linked to your account, as well as your history.

Be careful though, you will only find them on the device in which they were downloaded and during playback, the same audio settings and subtitles chosen during the download will apply. Attention, account sharing between friends to watch downloaded movies without paying is counted.

Why can't we download some content?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to download all the content offered by Netflix on your computer, tablet or smartphone. If the firm develops more and more its own productions, the fact remains that it must pay rights on others.

If you can't download content on Netflix , there are several reasons for this:

another company has exclusive rights to the content;
the content provider has not made the rights available for purchase
other more random factors may come into play:popularity, location, cost, seasonal availability...
