A social credit system has been introduced in China. Will we one day see this veritable “digital dictatorship”, with very real consequences, arrive in Europe? Are we running straight into the wall of dystopia? How free are we really from social media?
For the past ten years, social networks have literally infiltrated our lives, now and for the most part being an integral part of our daily lives. These diverse networks connect us, entertain us, and can make us important (at least, virtually). However, social networks constitute a gigantic database of its users and this makes it possible to achieve a level of global surveillance of populations, as never before.
Fortunately, at present, social networks are not mandatory and we are free to incorporate the data we want (personal information, photos…), so as to control what we want to share with the world, or no.
