Jack Burton will be your favorite superhero without superpowers. First published in 1986, Big Trouble in Little China (BTILC) had a weak welcome. But as the years went by, it became a cult classic. Dare I say it, but I think this is director John Carpenter's best work.
BTILC is the story of Burton and his partner Wang Chi rescuing a damsel in distress (Wang's fiancee) from a Chinese gang. This quickly turns into a war between two ancient Chinese clans, with the duo caught in the middle of it. The film spoofs 1980s kung-fu machismo gun movies. It's a great movie to watch with your friends, or by yourself when you want some mindless entertainment.
Pro Tip:Try watching it thinking that Burton is the sidekick and Wang Chi is the hero. It will blow your mind!

Trainspotting follows the lives of five young Scotsmen, all addicted to heroin. It's a dramatic look at the effects of heroin and heroin addiction. Boyle is the best at portraying what it feels like to be on a heroin trip.
Throw in fantastic performances from Ewan McGregor and Ewen Bremner, as well as some crime and pranks, and you've got yourself a winner.
