While this is no longer a unique feature, Prime Video was The first streaming service to offer downloads for offline playback. It started in 2013 and at the time was only available on Kindle Fire HDX tablets. Today, you can download Prime Video content on any Fire, Android, or iOS device.

Offline playback is immensely useful if you have choppy internet, regular outages, commute on buses or subways, or travel frequently and don't always have access to Wi-Fi. I love it for long plane rides - a few movies can make boring flights infinitely more bearable.
Please note that if you leave the country, Amazon's terms of service prohibit the use of a proxy or VPN to get around region blocks. However, if you download videos to a device and take it to a different region, you can still watch them.
Amazon is pioneering one of the coolest features in streaming media:X-Ray. It's an overlay that features comments, trivia, and other interesting facts that you might see while watching a TV show or movie. It is available on all Prime Video platforms and apps.
Most of the details are taken from IMDb, which Amazon acquired in 1998. During playback, X-Ray might show you who all the cast members are on screen or show you general trivia related to the current scene.
You can also expand X-Ray to see a list of all the scenes in the episode or movie and immediately jump to the one you want. X-Ray also provides a list of all the music used in the episode or movie, and even lets you jump to the scene where it's played.
Not all shows and movies support X-Ray right now, but the most popular titles do, and the number continues to increase with each passing day.
Amazon is a family-friendly service, so of course the company provides a way to protect your kids from inappropriate content. With parental controls, you can give them free reign to browse your Prime Video library at will without worrying about what they watch.
To set it up, go to Amazon Video Settings and scroll down to the Parental Controls section. Create a five-digit PIN to enable the feature. There are two types of restrictions available:
I'm the kind of person who always watches everything with subtitles on. Unfortunately, Prime Video has the subtitles of every streaming service I've tried, especially when viewing through the Prime Video app for Samsung Smart TVs.
The good news is that you can modify them and make them more bearable:
Amazon has an immutable default setting and then three presets that you can tweak to your liking. Options that can be modified include colors, fonts, sizes, opacities, backgrounds, borders, and outlines/shadows. The only drawback is the disappointing font selection.
Although Prime Video comes with a recommendation engine based on your viewing habits, it's not that great. In fact, I've yet to find a TV show or movie I've enjoyed through the recommendation engine. Prime Video's curated playlists are so much better.
When browsing the Prime video library, simply “Recommend for You” Lists and search for regular recommendation lists. These are the best of the best TV shows and movies offered on Prime Video, and this is where you'll get the most value from your subscription.
While the main video contains many watchable titles, it does have a reduced volume compared to Netflix and Hulu. This is one of its drawbacks, and it would explain why Prime Video is also cheaper than the other two. However, you have options!
