PUBG Mobile Global will be banned in Korea and Japan


According to the latest reports, the PUBG Mobile Global version will stop working for gamers living in Korea and Japan from June 30, 2021. The move comes a few months after the PUBG Mobile Global version was banned by the Indian government in the country because it was considered a threat to national security.

PUBG Mobile has maintained a frontline position in battle royale games with other games like Free Fire and Call of Duty. It is one of the best-selling and highest-grossing games of all time. The game was also recently nominated for the “ESports Game of the Year 2021”. On top of that, PUBG Mobile Global version racked up 1 billion downloads in March 2021 and also earned $4.3 billion on mobile devices in December 2020.

PUBG Mobile Global version will become inoperable in Korea and Japan

Players residing in Korea and Japan will not be able to play the global version of PUBG Mobile from June 30, 2021. However, they can still continue with the local version of the game, i.e. the KRJP version specially designed for the players who reside there.

When players opened the global version of PUBG Mobile, the following notice appears on their screen:

"To our players in Japan and Korea, due to certain adjustments in PUBG Mobile, starting from June 30th, 2021 (23:59:59), PUBG Mobile will no longer support service in Japan and Korea.Players in Japan and Korea should download the respective regional versions. Thank you for your continued support of PUBG Mobile!"

There is also a download button in the notice that can help players download the regional version of the game.

Not only that, players residing outside Korea and Japan will no longer be able to download or play the KRJP version as the developers of PUBG Mobile Korea had announced that this version will not be operational in any country other than Korea and Japan. PUBG Mobile Korea said these changes are necessary so that the services of the game are duly provided in their respective countries.

This decision cast a shadow over players who played the Korean version of the game as it gave comparatively more rewards than other versions.
