YouTube recently released a new feature for its Android app that can be quite annoying:autoplay videos on startup source. You may have noticed that as you scroll through the main YouTube feed in the Android app, videos automatically start playing while muting.
The feature is similar to hovering over a video on a YouTube video thumbnail in your browser and playing a few seconds of the content. Except on your phone, just go ahead and add subtitles.
So technically, if you're a glutton for punishment, you can watch that little video from the home screen, without the audio, and read the subtitles instead.
While some people like it and it can be a useful way to see the first few seconds of a video and decide if you want to watch it or not, here are some complaints worth mentioning.
Adding these videos to your watch history means that pausing for a few seconds too long while scrolling could negatively affect your YouTube recommendations.
