To encourage people to vote, Spotify is launching a non-partisan campaign called Play Your Part, with a focus on new voters.
Play Your Part is a campaign led by Spotify, aimed at inspiring its millions of listeners in the United States to get involved in the upcoming elections in November 2020.
It does this through a number of different methods. One is the Election Booth Hub, which provides resources to help you make an informed choice. Here you'll find podcasts that share stories of activism, discuss daily headlines, explore the history of the US justice system, and more.
For first-time voters, Spotify will target them with messages encouraging them to register to vote from other newcomers. This will presumably only apply to free users, who usually hear advertisements.
Elsewhere, Spotify's flagship playlists will feature audio and video reminders to get people to the polls. Anchor, a podcast creation platform owned by Spotify, will also give podcasters the opportunity to donate their ad space to voter pep talks.
The Play Your Part campaign is run in association with Effective, TurboVote, and BallotReady. These are three services that help you register to vote and give you information about candidates.
Spotify has also teamed up with artists like Alaina Castillo, King Princess and Chloe x Halle. They'll be voting for the first time and curating playlists to help provide entertainment for other newbies.

Spotify isn't the only company trying to educate people about the US presidential election. For example, Facebook will limit political ads ahead of the election, and you can also talk to Alexa to get your election questions answered.
