The Xbox Series X and PS5 are set to release in time for the holiday season. However, until now, we had no idea of the exact date, nor of their cost. Microsoft has finally broken its silence and revealed that the Xbox Series X will be released on November 10 for $499.
Microsoft broke the news on the official Xbox website. This news comes on the heels of Microsoft revealing the Xbox Series S release date and price.
If you want to make sure you get an Xbox Series X console on November 10, the company has confirmed that pre-orders will open on September 22. It should be noted that the price of $499 is indicated as "estimated retail price" may change in the future.
Along with price and date, the company revealed more information about Xbox Series X. For example, this new console can do 4K games out of the box and is ready for 8K games later.
The Xbox Series X also comes with a solid 1TB SSD. Not only can this hold plenty of games, but the nature of an SSD means load times should be blazing fast.
Xbox Series X also features an innovative "split motherboard" where not all components are on a single board. Microsoft claims that splitting the motherboard in this way helps the system cool down. It will be music to the ears of all who have suffered the dreaded red ring of death.
Microsoft also announced that the Xbox Series X will be coming to All Access. If you'd rather not shell out the console all at once, you can pay $34.99/month for 24 months instead.
While the website doesn't go into detail about the Xbox Series X All Access offer, it will likely work like the Xbox One version. If so, you'll also get a 24-month game pass so you can start playing as soon as you plug in the console.
So far, Sony and Microsoft have kept quiet about the arrival of the next generation of consoles. With Microsoft now showing its hand, all eyes are on Sony to see what the company does in light of this news.
If you want to get Xbox All Access but your country doesn't support it, don't worry just yet. Rumor has it that Microsoft will triple the number of countries that can use All Access.
