PUBG Mobile, a game known to break records since its release is also known to be highly addictive and directly harm the mental health of teenagers. According to The Tribune, a teenager residing in Mumbai has escaped from his home after allegedly spending Rs 10 lakhs on PUBG.
PUBG Mobile became the highest grossing game in July 2021 but it is also important to know that the game has been banned in several countries including India. Parents from different countries are expressing their concerns about the harmful effects of PUBG, hampering the creative growth of their children's minds. This prompted several countries to impose a ban on the game. However, after the ban, many countries now have their own version of PUBG Mobile.
Many incidents are revealed by children committing suicide for minor reasons regarding PUBG. This time a teenager fled home after spending 10 lakhs on PUBG to buy in-game items.
According to information provided by The Tribune, a 16-year-old boy ran away from his home in Mumbai after his parents reprimanded him for allegedly spending Rs 10 lakh through online transactions to play PUBG. Subsequently, he was found and returned to his parents.

The teen's parents claimed that the teenager has been addicted to PUBG Mobile since last month. He gained access to his mother's bank account and withdrew 10 lakhs of rupees to buy in-game currency and spent it to buy outfits as well as other in-game accessories.
Last year, PUBG Mobile was banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology ACT in September 2020. Privacy issues were the main reason behind the banning of the game. Even though Battlegrounds Mobile India, which is the Indian adaptation of PUBG Mobile, is available, some teenagers are still interested in the old game.
Such incidents have become very common these days as teenagers are desperate to buy outfits from the game as well as different accessories. Not only that, the growing gambling addiction is taking a toll on the mental health of children. Apart from India, countries like Iran, Vietnam and China have also banned this game due to excessive violent content in the game.
