While season 2 of Love Alarm has been available since March on Netflix, should we expect a season 3?
Love Alarm, the first South Korean Netflix original, received a lot of compliments upon its release in 2019. Based on a self-titled webcomic posted on Webtoon by Chon Kye-Young, the series stars Kim So-Hyun, Song Kang, and Jung Ga-ram in the lead roles. Netflix has renewed it for a second season. Arriving on the streaming platform in March, it was not unanimous… So what do we know about season 3? What has Netflix said so far about the sequel? Is the story over? We tell you everything.
The second season of Love Alarm has been delayed due to the health crisis. This one finally arrived on the platform last March, two years after the first one. Much to the delight of fans! But season 2 of Love Alarm didn't garner the same praise as the previous one... The reviews were even quite harsh.
The first season of Love Alarm was however in the top of the most viewed series on Netflix all over the world. A well-deserved success! Sincere, astonishing, moving… The series was able to touch the public by addressing important themes of modern society. She brilliantly brought her remarks about addiction to social networks and the difficulty of expressing her feelings. All this in a moving plot that depicts a love triangle.
The plot of season 2 takes place four years after the end of season 1, which leaves us on a cliffhanger. In this new season, Kim Jojo (Kim So Hyun) has resumed her studies. On the interface of her love alarm (the application that manages romantic feelings in this society), the shield prevents Kim from declaring her feelings to anyone. So she can't live true love...
Sunh Oh (Song Kan), he became a model. He continues to suffer the whims of his politician father and hopes to win back Jojo's heart. As for Hye Yeong (Jung Ga-Ram), he is dating Kim Jojo despite his own love alarm being silent.
New features appear on the application in this season 2 of Love Alarm. The user now knows the location and identity of people who might like him.
Throughout the six episodes that make up this season 2, the three protagonists go through a series of difficulties made worse by the problems of the love alarm application. Kim Jojo doesn't listen to her app and connection with Sun-Oh. (Spoiler alert!)
We remember the sad end of this season. In the last episode, Jojo had a very emotional conversation with Sunh-Oh, before breaking things off with him. Jojo eventually chooses Hye-Yeong. Love stories often end badly...
Would a sequel to the series still make sense when season 2 brings the plot to a close? Note also that the second season of Love Alarm has six episodes, two less than season 1. Generally, when a season has fewer episodes than the previous one, it is rather a bad sign for the after. The streaming giant might want to wrap up the Love Alarm story ASAP.
As we have just stated, the last episode of season 2 of Love Alarm closes all the plots. It leaves little room for a season 3 for Love Alarm…
However, we can imagine a new season based on a different scenario. The characters would then be changed and we are not going to lie to you, there is little chance of seeing Kim So-Hyun, Jung Ga-Ram and Song Kan reunited on screen...
Except surprise, Netflix will therefore never announce a release date for a season 3 of Love Alarm. You can always find the news of your favorite movies and series!
