It's here, finally! The drama/comedy series Dear White People has just landed on Netflix for a fourth season. Adapted from the eponymous film, itself based on a novel by Justin Simien of the same title, the series had aroused many negative comments when it was released. In question:the title of the fiction. Dear White People, or Chers Blancs in French, was not to everyone's taste. The series has however been well received by critics, many of whom pointed out that the satire behind the comedy was excellently written. If you haven't devoured the last season yet, check out the latest news about it.
This excellent series did not make much noise at the time of its release. Four years later, she continues her journey in all discretion. If you're one of those who don't know what it's all about, we'll explain it to you.
Dear White People discusses post-racial America and explores the related themes:social injustice, cultural prejudices, the so-called right-thinking, pseudo-activism... So many subjects that do not fail to divide the United States, which has only just closed the Trump page .
To evoke all these subjects, the series features four black students evolving in the prestigious university of Winchester. Of course, this one has mostly white students.
Unsurprisingly, we find the main distribution for this fourth season of Dear White People:
We deplore the notable departure of Jeremy Tardy, who played Rashid Bakr, following a contract dispute, according to the actor. The latter spoke about it on Twitter in 2020.
For those who missed the info, or who do not receive notifications from Netflix, we repeat it to you:season 4 of Dear White People is available from this Wednesday, September 22.
The series Dear White People first appeared on Netflix in April 2017. Since then, the streaming platform has given us a new season every year. It was feared that the last season would be an exception and fall behind, because of the health crisis, this is not the case!
It may come as a surprise if you attack season 4 of Dear White People without having watched its teaser beforehand:the fourth season of American fiction is a great musical. A genre that we often love or hate, but which rarely leaves you indifferent.
So how do you explain the choice of this format for the fourth season of Dear White People? Justin Siemen, its director, provided a part of the answer to Insider :
In the same interview, the creator of the series also confides that he saw the use of a musical format as the way to achieve a metaphor for the journey of these students of color at a university almost exclusively made up of whites. Black students need to put on a show to try to exist and take the place they deserve.
As much to tell you right away:the very good series Dear White People bows out with this season 4. Always justifying its choice of musical comedy for season 4, the director announced it bluntly:there will be no season 5.
As you will have understood, the ten episodes of about thirty minutes each that make up this season 4 are to be savored! These are the last episodes of the series, all good things must come to an end...
